Why do I get error 'External table is not in the expected format' when I open my database

There are few possible causes for this error:

the file is not a valid Excel workbook or Access database
the file is corrupted
In both cases validate the file by downloading and opening it using proper software (Excel or Access) on your local computer.
the version is not supported
Supported versions are:
Excel 3.0-2013
Access 2.0 - 2013
the file is password protected
dbBee does not support password protected files
